Feelings on the Victory VAP arrows?

I know I was super impressed in the amount of penetration difference I saw (same arrow weights) with the VAPs I tried last year. I just had issues with the AL inserts that bent on me.

Just wondering what the group here thinks of the Victory VAP or the super small diameter shafts out there. (Injections and the like)

I love the concept. They (slimline penetrating tipped arrows in general) out penetrate everything else on the market that I have tested. If someone can perfect the outsert I would hunt with them. I love the HT-1's because they have the design AND some extra weight. Just need that outsert to be concentric.

I like the small diameter shaft for penetration but not the inserts that are out right now. I've seen my HT-1's and my cousins VAP's AL inserts both bend. I really liked how thin the arrows were but until there's a better insert I won't use them. I'd try the new SS insert but have read they crack the end of the arrows and I don't like how heavy it makes the arrow. I like a somewhat heavier arrow but not around 500 gr. which is where the SS Harvest Time insert would have put my HT-1's.

I was very impressed w/ the penetration and accuracy. I too did not like the outsert. Actually had them bend just shooting them into fieldpoint targets.(with field points of course)

I don't like the HIT inserts, and I don't like the idea of a different thread size in Easton's new arrows.

I have been playing around with some VAPs in 300 spine (waitng for the 250 spine soon). I put some of the new Easton Deep Six HIT inserts in them as I hate outserts. They fit snug, but work just fine in the VAPs. I have been impressed with the groups at 60 yards. They really fly nice once you tune your bow for them. I am using FF Flash vanes on them with a 3 degree helical. Once the 250 spine comes out next month, I plan to put them through the ringer and may use them on a spring bear hunt. I put one through 2 1" pieces of plywood and the shaft was still fine. Can't say that for the BH though.

The new Deep Six Big Nasty from NAP. I only used 3/4" plywood for that test. Made it through once unscated, but second time was destroyed.

Thanks. Always good to hear "real time" test results.

Yeah the HIT insert looks to be the best option I've seen so far. I can't trust those VAP inserts if they bend all the time. I checked FOC on a 410gr arrow with the HIT and it was a bit over 12% Plus 32 vs 40 thread is well worth it for me to switch to if it cuts down on me having to tighten points in all the time. That big nasty looks freaking unreal... I'm okay with it only working once since it will get hung up with the bloody arrow on the animals rack.

Does the HIT or Deep Six insert fit in the HT-1's or just the VAP's?

Im going to give them a try this year. I shot them side by side with my goldtips and the VAPs(same weight) had easily double the penetration.

Im either going to try Victorys new SS insert or the deep six inserts. I really liked the looks of that Big Nasty that NAP is making, kinda reminded me of a big G5 Montec.

Longbow do you know what your finished weight was with the deep six in the VAP? Also the length of your arrow?

Have you tried the SS inserts from Victory?

What broke exactly? The ferrule/thread interchange or the blades?

Blades bent pretty bad. Arrow was fine. I had a DS HIT inside.

I have a brand new pack of the Big Nasty BH's for sale at $30 TYD for anyone who wants them. Pm me.

My arrow was 30.5" long with a wrap, FF Flash vanes, G nock and HIT insert with 100 grain BH. It weighed about 420.

I have some of the new Victory SS inserts. but have not used them. I hate outserts for some reason. They look nice. They weigh 90 grains. I have 7 left after giving a friend 5 and will sell them if anyone wants them. Pm me.

I'm gonna try the Deep 6 A/C version when SS gets them in..Yes there a BIT Pricey.. I have been shooting the ACC 3-28,3-18 for maybe 10 years.. I love them they are not as small as the VAP, D6 or H1s But they are pretty small..If I like them I will try the Muzzy heads if no one else is making heads for the Deep6 by then.
