    Strict 9 custom strings

Honesty is loved here, so Ill give it my best shot.

Ordered a string from Shane at Strict 9 taking advatage of his 15% discount he offered on the first 5 orders.

John was/is busier than hell and had stopped taking orders so I wanted to try another makers laces out. So the decision for maker was this time around was just right time and right place.

Was originally qouted 2 weeks. When less than 4 weeks is quoted by anyone in the biz of archery, I automaticly multiply by 1.5 so I figured 3 weeks. Sucks, but is what it is in the archery world today.

It was here in 3 weeks.

    Finally got to installing tonight.

No hangups doing this. It is very cool that he ties each end (no knots) together so that there is no guessing wether they are twisted up the way he intended.

Because I was curious, I did not spec the strings to start with. Wanted to whats up the way he sent them.

Top cams cable needed 2 twists taken out to bring the cams into synch. Very cool!

No draw board tonight so I didnt measure dl. Just made a mark on each side of my stop screws and put them right back where I had them with the stock strings.

Next was setting loop and resetting rest height (rest cause of skinnier arrows now, deep impacts are freaking cool!)

Not sure why, anyone care to enlighten me? My arrow was pointed to the right. Yes, just like with the original shims. So I measured it and it was way under the .875 I had it set at. So I moved that as well.

Measure a2a and brace. 1/32 shy of 35" and brace is 7 1/8". Hell, Im happier than a pig in sht right now!

Forgot the peep I will be using for hunting at home so it is not installed.

So I shot through paper. Didnt make any adjustments on the first 2 shots except just settling down and finding my anchor a little bit. Amazing how dependant I am on using the peep as another anchor.

Anyway, check the pictures out. Must say that my first impression of Shanes strings is a very positive one.

Oh, shot through paper at about 7 yards.

And to plug the arrows, this is at 15 yards and the bow came out right at 70#. Draw stops hit at same time with no adjustments.

Thanks for the review. In desperate need for strings myself. Got the same message from John and Jeremy doesn't seem to have a lot of free time right now either. I will give them a shot.

Doesn't look like a kill shot to me lol. How do your arrows pull out of that board? I've had to leave arrows stuck in that stuff before because for the like of me they wouldn't come out. So 3 aramid KVs stayed in the wall lol

Oh it sucked.... couldnt do it bare handed. Had to use a fist and ahalf of rubber v type arrow puller and still wasnt sure they was coming out....

And no peep... lol. Form has faltered enough in the last couple weeks that Im moving around a little to much.

Celotex. Great stop. But if yer bow has some gas to it, better have an arrow puller.

Celotex with the asphalt based coating? Or do they make one without the weatherproofing?

    Sorry, was thinking wrong.

Its celotex more or less without the black stuff. This may be a litle more fine. Ill get the name of it for sure when I get back in there today to finish setting the bow for monday.

All pressed and glued together. When its new, an arrow slicker is a must. Stuff sticks to arrows pretty badly.

Come to think of it, I have seen stacks of ceiling tile used for targets. I wish I had thought of that years ago when I was still in bussiness.....I trashed tons of old 2x4 ceiling tiles! haha Live and learn!

So when you draw the bow back to full draw are the cable strands protected by the serving while ,they are inside the cam/cable grooves?

There is about 1.25" of the cable on the track that is not protected at full draw.

Never looked for it. I know the served areas are as long as the stock strings and never watched for it on those either.

Saved the stock strings so I will look at those for excessive wear in the area. I had shot an average of 800 arrows a week on them fom first week of july untill a couple weeks ago when my dloop broke.

Thanks for the question and pointing it out.

Sounds like a project coming up. That would be a good way to test out a set of Shane's strings inside the shop!

I am not the most patient person tying in a peep. Got really really close after a few tries and said fk it, close enough for the girls bnb dated.

Corrected the little bit off it was with the loop.

Also weighed stuff up tonight to put on the string. Forgot to take a pic of the peep. It kept bouncing back and forth from 5-6 grains so Il go with the 5.5 claimed on the package.

    6 grains on the loop.

5 grains on the dental floss to tie in the peep.
    uploadfromtaptalk1348971388391.jpg
    uploadfromtaptalk1348971402824.jpg

Tried to weigh the left over floss but evidently the poor man dope scale starts at 5... lol.
    uploadfromtaptalk1348971483831.jpg

Think I will use 3 grains for dental floss on string since I used just over half of what I had cut off.

So 14.5 grains on string. This is for shooting through the chrono tomorrow.

8 shots for the walkback to get an arrow straight line and set 20 yard pin in 4 shots.
    uploadfromtaptalk1348971667551.jpg

Didnt take a pic cause phone was die'n. 4 more shots and the pic, had it been taken, looked like the above pic, but half inch above one x and a half inch below the other.

Shooting tonight without a stab so its a little shaky, but not bad enough I wouldnt hunt if I forget it at home.

And looked at the stockers. Nothing worn, serving or string right there. Must be because its the straight part of the cams cable groove where it rests.
