I like to buy top-end used bows. After guys like Karbon, NHS4, CDburner, and 2xR get done trying out their new bows, they sell them to try others. If you wanted an affordable top of the line bow, wait for these guys to trade up or just keep your eyes on the classifieds. Unfortunately, I shoot left-handed and the classified here and on AT are pretty slim pickings for a guy like me. I just squirrel away money for a year until I can afford what I want.

The Bowtech Assassin seems to be a great bow.

I would check out the Diamond line. They are sweet bows, and for 500 you can get a 330 fps bow that is smooth and high quality.

Talk to Scottie and can put you into a revenge in the $600-$700 range and it ibo at 340. Scottie will have that rig prob a little faster than then that and it is a ultra smooth 6 1/4 BH bow!

Cheapest bows that flat out shot are the K & K's. You can pick them up for $350 to $4ish. Once they get the dont eat the cable mods, you will be all set...... Most are almost new.

New bows I would look at the PSE Bow Maddness 3 g

I'm not sure if the PSE Vendetta is considered midpriced(I payed $700 for mine, fully loaded brand new) but it's a sweet shooting bow. Also check the classifieds on here or the other sight(AT) for good deals on "used" bows.

I haven't shot one but I was told that the PSE Brute X out shoots the Axe and this came from a knowledgeable guy. He said it draws, holds, and points better than anything in PSE's line up this year and it only costs $399.99.

I just sold my BM 3g and yes its a great shooter..Stock strings are crap which I don't understand for a 600 dollar bow,but all in all a good bow..I was in to mine for 660..Theres not alot of talk about them here but Martin has great line of bows in their Pro and gold series lines.Well worth the money ,nice fit and finish and quality strings..

I agree with Dameon look at an one year old top end bow. Lots of choices out there.

Definitely look into used bows. I just picked up a fully rigged (minus a quiver) 2010 Hoyt Maxxis 35 for $535 delivered. That's nearly 50% less than the original owner probably payed for everything!!! That was from the AT classifieds.

Ross Archery is offering a mid-point bow that is pretty nice. VERY light, single cam, good speed and shoots lights out. IT's called the XD for Xtreme Devastation and msrp is around $525. I shot it and liked it.

Thanks for the replies. Second question. What exactly makes the $900 bow that much better than the $500-600 bow? With looks, draw, and nearly the same speeds, why is everyone "obsessed" with owning the high dollar models??

Are Ross bows made by Bowtech?? Or use to be?
