    Insanity CPXL Tuning.....

So i was playing with my cpxl today yoke tuned it. Timed and synced all good....

I have the mods set at 29.5" and the stops at 30".....feels great....

Shooting awesome also....getting bullet holes through paper....

Tried several spines all pretty much bullets through paper...sight arrow and string are in perfect alignment....

One thing is bothing me though....needs to be set at 1/8" nock high......

Are these things just tuning nock high or are you able to tune these with arroe nocked level?

Nock high can sometimes mean a weak arrow spine. Have you tried a stiffer spine to see if it makes a difference?

Not a nock high tear... shooting bullet holes through paper. If i set the arrow level i get a nock low tear...

Nocking point is about 1/8" higher than the rest...

    I have tried 350 340 and 300 spine....

I am going to try moving my nocking point i think and maybe play with tiller....

Having the nock anything but level makes me think nock travel....the cables are within the timing dots and the stops are hitting pretty much dead on....maybe i can take half a twist out of the top.........i dont know.....

Which is better with these bows having the top or bottom hit first?

Right now they are pretty even...

I understand. I was referring to a nock high set. I know when I shot 300 spine arrows, my arrows would not paper tune unless I moved the nocking point higher, but with .200-.250 spine, I could set at 90 degrees. Which was the spine that software recommended.

What's the reasoning for having the stops at 30"? A longer valley?

See what happens with the nocking point when you set the draw stops at 29.5". I'm curious if this levels it's out.

    Still the same....

The bow feels a million times better with the stops like that...

I am going to try getting the top cam to hit a half twist before the bottom see what that does....

When you say "feels better." What do you mean?

I asked Crackers what he thought about setting the stops like you did and he said it would make tuning the bow MUCH more difficult. I'm not sure if he means timing or what.

Iv heard guys doing this and they love the valley.. I'm going to try this with my cpxl, mod at 31.5 & stops at 32".. I'm having a hard time holding tight into the wall, I like to relax at the shot. I hear lots of guys saying the valley is long and nice, I have to disagree .. You relax with this bad boy it wants to rip your arm off

By having the stops at the next higher dl setting or the mods set at the next lower dl setting. They bow feels the way it should feel i guess. Takes any sense of that hump feeling completely away and gives a nice valley. The draw feels completely different kind of elite answerish?

It was not hard to tune the bow this way....its shooting bullet holes the nocking point is just a touch higher than what i like to see....

So what is the measured DL?

And for the record a good tuner can remove all feeling of a hump in the draw. My CPXL is set up like Bowtech recommends (but is tuned by Crackers) and it's the smoothest bow I have ever drawn. It makes my D-340 feel like it has a huge hump when it's actually pretty slight. The bow draws almost identically to my Vindicator, just a tad easier on the front end.

29.5" mods with the stops in the 30" position measures 30" on the nose.

Set mod at 31.5", draw stop at 32". The draw is way smoother,no sign of dl decrease (feels the same), NO hump at roll over, let off seems higher and the valley is NICE. I can relax at the shot !! I shot through paper at 3-6', still bullets, shot through chrony to see speed loss, bad lighting ill have to try tomorrow. For the record, by making this little adjustment totally improved this bow !!

Gotta love this forum! Gonna have to do a few of these tweaks to my Insanity tonight and see how the valley feels.

I can't wait to see what kind of speed was lost. I'm guessing 2-5 fps, which would be acceptable to me.

just shot it through pro chrony.. 347g arrow 31.5"DL, draw stop set at 32" setting at 58/59# draw.. 321fps!! getting 324fps at 32"DL, 32" stop.. Traded 3 fps for long nice valley, super smooth draw (vindicator smooth) and wall still rock solid, im holding into the wall, relaxing at the shot and its not wanting to creep at all, if that makes sense

lets just say the pro chrony is spot on. 321fps w/31.5"DL setting 32" Draw stop setting,59#,347G arrow and 25g on the string, thats 335IBO. Something this Smooth, Awesome valley, rock solid wall W/O Wanting to creep and smoking fast is amazing. I seen post over on AT about people doing this to the cpx and cpxl, then seeing Enkriss getting the same results , I just had to try it. To be honest, I was ready to take a loss on this bow because of that $$$$ hump (kept coming back) and short valley. I can honestly say Im 100% satisfied with this bow. Hats off to all you guys who tinker and find ways to make things better and post on the forums. Thank You
