Obsession Bows landed at our shop

    Sniper LT

    Lethal Force II

    KnightMare

    All bows 29" 70lbs

    Fast review ,

Cosmetics all looked great ,, no complaints

Shot the bows straight out the box with out checking specs and they all were pretty quiet and very dead . I used a Elite Answer ( 29" spot on 71lbs ) for comparison .. The Obsession bows did have a slight continous on going light vibe but was so light most wouldnt feel it . Put them all through the chrono against the Elite Answer for a base line comparison . Speeds were a bit on the slow side . As stated befotre I wanted to shoot them straight out the box so dont get all disappointed folks ;) So after a quick inspection of DW , DL ata brace and draw boarding ,, There was a slight stretch in ll the harnesses .. Called Dennis right fast to ask for the harnes specs and to give him a heads up and he jumped on it ASAP .. Took the specs and applied them to all three harness ( minor tweaks I will add . Took them to the draw board , timed and synced cams . Placed draw pegs for max valley .

    Results
    All bows , 29"-29 1/8" 71-71.5 lbs

    351gr arrow

Elite Answer (smooth mods ) 325 fps

    Sniper LT 326fps

    Lethal Force II 329fps

    Knight Mare 335fps

All bows with just a loop and a hostage rest

All in all no disappointments , After the slight tune to them they were even more dead , faster and the ever so slight on going vibe I mentioned was gone . I will add that with 8190 on production bows that there will be some bows when demand is needing to be met that will need to be tuned as above , so please if you do exp this with ANY factory bow dont flip out and go off the deep end on bashing a company or bow .. 9.9 times out of 10 it can be corrected pretty fast .. Lots of archery consumers that are not as educated as some of us do not understand that companies have to meet demand and perform at the same time .. The bows felt great out the box but its up to us dealers ( in my opinion ) to make the customers really happy and fine tune the bows to optimal performance .. All in all , Dennis has done a great job to put an outstanding product in the dealers hands to work with and to provide to the customers ..

    Great job guys

I do have the 2013 Addiction ordered and will post up on it as well when I get my hands on it .... Forgot to mention the cam lean ,, I saw no lean that was or would be a concern . It was not severe at all .

The harness settling is common. It usually just takes a couple twists to have it where it needs to be.

Yep , this has been my experience with production bows using 8190 material .. Nothing wrong with it .. Its good practice for dealers using the factory harnesses to check them with any bow to be sure they are performing . These bows we got from Obsession ARE performing and hitting IBO ;)

    Nice review.
What set up are you using for measuring the strings???
I need to build a new string stretcher and I am looking for ideas.

I didnt use a jig to measure them or to stretch them .. All I did was use a 3/16" stainless steel S hook and a Screw driver with a 3/16" diameter drive .. I drove a wood screw into the top of our work bench at an angle away from me to secure one end of the S hook on . Slipped one loop end on the S hook and the other on the screw driver . Takes two sets of hands to get it close . Measured from the screw driver to the inside of the loop end on the S hook . The strings were pretty stretched so no need to have added serious weight to them at this point other then the guy pulling against it with the screw driver .. Just be sure the screw driver is held good and square . I did allow for a ____ hair of stretch ,, maybe a 32nd" or so ... If the strings werent good and stretched already I would have used a jig and preloaded them over night before twisting to length and putting them back on . The cables hold a great deal of weight , and being on the bows for a few days and being shot before they get to the designated address via mail, that usually has them stretched pretty good already to make your final adjustments to optimize the performance .....

So far as stretching jigs , pretty much endless on how to build one .. If your mainly building for slaved binaries you can build one upright due to the shorter harness lengths . I have also used a couple S hooks a 300lb weight scale and a turn buckle to stretch them as well on a horizontal plain . Just anchor both ends and have one end adjustable with a chain or a boat winch and pull it tight and twist up the turn buck to your desired loading weight .

Wouldn't it be rather simple to modify a draw boar into a string stretcher?

I'm glad you mentioned the cam lean, seems a few people have said how bad it is on them...I've got 2 Knightmares of my own, a 70 & a 60, and neither of them have any real lean to speak of...No worse than any other 2 track binary I've seen/owned, and a lot less than some.

Ya the problem comes when you get single cam bows and their long strings.

It's odd. My KM at 6"BH is the most forgiving bow I have shot to date.

Im really liking them so far .. I want to spend some time with the Sniper LT at longer ranges , 50yds and over . I havent really spent time with any shorter ata bow at longer ranges . Ive always been a 33-35" ata man . I have a Elite Pulse that I really love thats a barn burner thats hitting 5fps over IBO and shoots lights out at 50yds and over ,so Im good in the speed dept . Id like to add a the shorter ata Sniper to my personal stable . I will be spending some time with it while in the shop over the next couple wks .
