How rangefinders work.
Modern laser rangefinders work using "time of flight". The speed of light is constant. The laser rangefinder fires short pulses of invisible laser light at a target through the small lens. The big lens receives the bounced back signal, and based on the time it took for the signal to return, the rangefinder calculates the distance. It also has an angle sensor inside, not unlike a carpenters' level. It then adjusts the distance using the angle to provide the user true horizontal distance.
We packaged this system in a comfortable, arm worn package. You simply place the Neverguess on your arm, attach the switch to your finger, and adjust it to your draw posture.
The NeverGuess has fiber optic sights that allow you to aim it at the target. You squeeze the switch against your bow handle, and it displays the true horizontal distance to the target.



Operation:
Rangefinders have become a must have for me, sure judging yardage to the best of your ability is always a great thing to practice and be adept at as a bowhunter, but …. We all know we can be wrong! I know for sure that my trophy room would look a whole lot more like it should if I'd got the yardage right a time or two more...

Enter the laser rangefinder! As I told Chris McDonald President of NeverGuess ..I never leave home without it.

The folks at NeverGuess have now brought to market a rangefinder like no other ever offered. As stated the NeverGuess is worn on the bow arm, it is sighted on the target via a muzzle loader type fiber optic sight. I found it is desirable to take the time to adjust the unit to your shooting form, once this is achieved the fiber optic sighting system is not only easy to see at full draw but very accurate acquiring the correct target. The heavy duty reinforced camo Cordura and Velcro arm strap is nicely made and looks to hold up to many years of abuse. The strap will make a nice arm guard for a bulky coat as well.
The unit is “triggered” via a small finger button that can be easily pressed against the bow while at full draw while aiming at the target, the button worked every time for me.
Now the really neat part .. the unit has been aimed and triggered and a very easy to read red yardage is shown at the back of the unit... pick the pin!

NeverGuess has included a compensation mode as well to calculate the true distance of a steep angle or tree-stand scenario. Easy to do, The unit requires 1 push to wake it up, and every single push after that gives the compensated distance. It only gives uncompensated distance while holding the button down.

The NeverGuess unit is built like a tank, stainless hardware (they are from Oregon after-all). There is virtually no plastic to be found on this unit, the case is anodized camo aluminum, something in other ranging products I have yet to see, they always seem to be plastic in nature. The unit weighs in at just under 16oz and is pretty easy to get used to wearing.

Conclusion:
I am glad to have got to test this innovative unit, nice to see a “better mouse trap” indeed.
The Neverguess Rangefinder a great new twist on a solid bowhunting tool and it is legal in states that disallow electronics attached to the bow like Oregon another plus!

The Neverguess is not mounted to the bow, so it is legal in all states

Again, it does not mount to the bow, so it fits within the rules of fair chase.

Does it compensate for shot angle?
Yes, it displays both line of sight range, and true horizontal distance

Thanks for the review. I have been looking everywhere for a review on the NeverGuess for a while now. The new price is better than it was 6 months ago. I might just have to start saving the pennies to pick on up before hunting season.

I will say one thing about rangefinders, you can always use one. With this one being right on your arm, you won't have to go digging for it or make too much movement to get a range on your animal. That's a huge plus in my book!

Hey now thats cool. Good review Stix. I would just hope i did'nt forget it was there. You know sitting in a stand in warm weather, sweat starts rolling down your head. and BAM, you slam that thing into your skull trying wipe your brow. Other than that i could see good use for a product like that.

Nice review and a good looking product. My only concern would be if it rolled to the inside of my forearm and I released an arrow.

It locks down pretty well on your arm .. I see your point but I don't think it could happen
