100 grain vs 125 grain pros and cons.

Well I kind of screwed up and order and ordered 3 packs of 125 grain razor tricks. I've always shot 100s.
Here's my setup and let me know if I'm better off with 100s or not (if so someone will get a he'll of a deal on some 125s)
    Destroyer 350 26.75" draw 63 lbs 304 gps with 350ish grain arrow.
Ht-2 cut 26.5 I believe. How would it effect my foc and ke?
    Thanks

I switched this year from 100's to 125's, with that being sayed i'm not a speed freak like 2x, I prefer to pack alot of punch when my arrow arrives. With that being sayed you are going to pick up some KE with the 125's, if your a speed freak stay with 100's. I think you will be fine with the 125's FOC personally but some on here might disagree.

Yeah I wouldn't see my self below 295 fps which is still fast for a short draw

Re: 100 grain vs 125 grain pros and cons.

All my life i have hunted with 125grn. I found that it gave me better foc, plus the 125 tended to be a little stronger in most cases. It also gave me more punch , I always used to use 65lb . That being said since i got my Vindy set @ 61lb with 27inch draw i have been using 100grnsBH . The lighter BH plus a lesser spine arrow give's me good speed. But you can bet your bottom dollar, that i will be back up to 125grn BH with a stiffer (heavier) arrow for the Bear hunt in May. Speed is not every thing. I will go with the grunt every time. On the light game such as the smaller deer the 100grn is fine. But you cant beat the extra weight on the bigger game.

I'm not a technical guy so i haven't run any sort of foc center tests or anything like that.

To me,,,I think those heads would work well with your poundage. If they don't you can always increase a few pounds to compensate for any speed loss if thats your big concern.

I would myself tinker with paper tuning and field tips that weigh 125 grains and see what happens on paper to get an idea of arrow flight first, then act accordingly. If I had my bow all dialed in with 100 grain tips,,,I would not be willing to vary from it,,,so me personally,,,I'd send the heads back for an exchange. Too lazy to tweak an already tuned bow.

seems to me, slighly less speed, better FOC and more momentum. As long as they fly well, I say you are better off!

    I have no problem using either @ 64#, 28" arrow, 340 spine.
125gn point will drop your speed about 8 fps & your point of impact about 3" @ 60 yds. It'll raise your foc about 2% which translates to about a half inch more penetration in my foam target (for what that's worth) & the ke difference is negligable.

Definitely think you should stick with 100gr without a doubt!

Soooo, how good of a deal were you talking? :)

Lol. Kind of thinking the same. Bow was tuned with a 100 grain arrow so I'll probably keep it that way.

The only downside to a 125 over a 100 is if it happens to weaken your spine too much, but it shouldn't if you are shooting proper arrows. The rest is all upside. To me 125 is a light BH.

I ran your numbers and here is a screen shot, now this is a first draft and can be tweaked but this will give you an idea of where you are.

The things you do today will be tomorrows topics of conversation, make it a good story!

I'd go with the 125s in your setup, you'll probably notice less wind drift and slightly more penetration with out much speed loss. Try it and see how it shoots, I bet you'll like it and won't notice enough speed loss to want to change.

100 grain vs 125 grain pros and cons.

I know this doesn't fit your setup but what I did is go with 100gr heads and add weigh to my inserts. Everyone I hunt with has 100gr heads so this way I can swap heads if needed or can buy 100gr heads which are easier to come across but I still have the extra weight up front.
