My parents were on the same page, which made a big difference. Not a afraid to use a wooden spoon or put soap in the mouth when necessary. It did not happen often. Once I started to get older, it turned to be more of a lack of respect on my part. I got two mouth slaps (on separate occasions) that were well deserved.
My daughter is 2.5 right now and is bull headed but the absolute sweet thing. So far she has been responding great to plunking her down on a chair and taking to her with a stern voice. Separate herself from her naughty self, if that makes sense. If she hits, same thing, and then she has to apologize. She then gives a "Sworry" and the gentlest touch to whomever she affected. It really is the most amazing thing.
