If any of you are limited to certain distances in your shooting areas (for example 10 yards or 15 yards in a basement), I used XPrint to print up some 5-spot targets, and then I shrunk them accordingly to make it as though you're shooting the full size target at 20 yards when shooting at reduced distances.
For example, my 15 yard 5-spot target is 75% of the usual size of a 5-spot target, and my 10 yard 5 spot target is 50% of the usual size of a 5-spot target. BTW, these print on standard 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper, and are set up to use only black ink to print. For some reason, I think this is actually harder than shooting at a real 5-spot target at 20 yards -- I'm sure it has something to do with the way the eye perceives objects at different distances or something like that -- it's probably not a directly proportional relationship... On the other hand, the lines of the rings are closer together on the smaller targets, so it's easier to break a higher scoring ring, so maybe technically it's a little bit easier? Well, whatever the case may be...
I don't know of anywhere to host the image files where it will display them at the right size for printing, so if anyone is interested, just pm or e-mail me, and I'll e-mail the .jpg files to you... Right now I only have a 10 yard and a 15 yard file. I also made up a quick and easy scoring sheet for each game too, so I'd be happy to e-mail that as well if you want it.
As I was typing this up, I thought it might be fun to do an increased size 5-spot target for longer range outdoor practicing in the summer... That longer distance practice might be a really good way to improve shooting form. I'll have to think about trying that out as warmer weather approaches... Only thing is I'll only be able to fit one enlarged spot on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.
