Can anyone share any feedback on the Free Fall drop away rest? It works on recoil versus a cable. I believe it used to be called the trap door and was made by Montana Gold.

Thanks in advance for any input.

BTW, it may go on my new Cardiac! :)

I have one on my 337 right now. The only reason I have it on is because I am waiting for my Dropzone to show up at the shop. It is a very simple rest to put on the bow, but that is where the praises stop for me.

It seems to function ok, but you have no control over how quickly or when the rest drops. I have to shoot cock vane up in order for my Blazers not to hit the rest and I still believe I am getting contact every once in a while. I cannot deal with that possibility during a hunting situation. It will be coming off as soon as the DZ arrives.

I have not tried one but judgeing from the pictures and video, I don't think it would be my choice for a rest.

"FreeFall™ is recoil activated,
mere ounces of bow recoil causes
an internal pendulum to swing,
triggering fall-away."

What if your bow doesnt produce enough recoil for it to time the drop correctly. :???:

I've had a Trap Door Micro 2 years now,,,

the only problem I had was that I was 'cocking' the rest with the bow held horizontaly. The inner sear has a weight on it. The rest [and bow] should be held upright when cocking the arm. I have had no contact with vanes since I started doing this. Makes sense now that I've been doing it this way.
I'm not sure if the the FREE FALL is the same or not.
By the way,,my TRAP DOOR has been on my '05 SWITCHBACK,,and there's not much recoil if ANY on the bow. But the Trap Door seems to work anyway!

They have a sensitivity adjustment screw on them to time them. I have two FreeFalls and one TrapDoor Mach4. They are pretty much the same thing. I really like them, and took a QAD LD off of my 331 and replaced it with a FreeFall. No regrets as of yet.
