Nope. The clip is hold in place by the brass thumb screw.
Sorry I meant the bit that locks into the cog and stops it from undoing. So when you loosen the brass screw and slide the clip away is it easy to knock the lock out or does the load on the rope hold it in place till you take some load off the clip?

Only asking cause the one minor hassle with the last chance version is having to hold the clip away while you let the bow down.

Not a problem :) . Professionally that piece is called "ratchet pawl". Like you said. Once you loosen the brass screw and slide the clip away you need to back the winch a little to remove the load from the pawl. Next you can just flip the pawl away from the ratchet gear and thats all. You can use one hand to hold the bow and the other to crank down the winch.
Basically till you remove some load of the pawl it will stay solid in place. You can see it on the video.
