Here's the scoop...

Tuned the bow (331) - to what i think is perfection.... 31" ATA, screw tangent to limb, shooting well, have bullet holes in paper....

My problem/question is my bow scale reads 65lbs when limbs are fully screwed down...
It's one of those hand bow scales... I am sure they are not that accurate but could it be off that much ??

What has been your experiance with these goofy scales?

need to know,,,,

What limb rating your 331 is~!
I'm guessing 60# rating. My 60# rated 331 limbs max at 66#s. My 70# set maxes at 74#s.
Ross limbs pull well over the rated poundage in my experience. I've left the 60# set on,,about a half turn [or 1 turn, I forget] and it's pulling 64#s.
I took my scales to my local archery shop. Their scales pulled about 3 lbs MORE than mine! He said he uses those scales to weigh his fish. :???:
I have checked my scales and believe them to be within 1lb accuracy. I would like to have a KNOWN weight to be sure, tho.

good ?
Limb rating is 70lbs... and it feels like it is pulling a lot more than 65lbs... i normally shoot 67lbs so i am comfortable with that "feeling"... and i don't remember my scale being this far off... I'll need to bring it to the shop and check it out.

Yes, Ross limbs will usually set a few pounds heavier when in proper tune and time.
My used CR331 that I just bought was maxed out at 69 pounds on 70 lbs limbs and the timing was WAY OFF. The owner even had the cam marked with timing lines but the lines were so far off as the bow sits "timed properly" now the perminant marker lines are buried under the limbs 8)
I went from 69 pounds to 72.5 pounds and from 273 FPS at 69 lbs. to now shooting 279 FPS @ 68 lbs. :(

I would Verify that your scale is off with another before you do any adjustments.

It is in "perfect" time, this cam doesnt have the small hole on it like the new Cardaic cams.
I would varify that your scale is corrent and if it really is pulling light I would add 1-2 twists to your cables while taking out the same amount of twists to your strings.

if its an old scale, and its a mechanical type. Its probably out of calibration.

your bow should be around 72-4

If you dont want to shoot your bow at 73-76 pounds don't worry about putting the twists in the strings as long as the cam is timed and you are at your preferred draw wieght you are good.
My CR331 will do 74+ lbs on its limbs but I got it timed and tuned for 68 and she is shooting "prefect" for me. :(

Ok .. so i went out and bought a new scale. $40 later, Bingo!!! With the limbs fully maxed out the draw weight is 70# on the nose. :(

I normally shoot at 67# which works out to 1/2 a turn on the limb bolts. Do you think I should put a twist in the cable and take one out of the string ?? or leave it as is ???

Thanks for the help
Dave ...
