I just recently passed my test for my permit to carry here in WV. I was suprised at how easy it was. I had to shoot six shots into the target at about 15 feet . Any one could do it. All I have to do now is take the papers to the court house and pay $75.00 and wait for the background check to clear me and then when my card comes in pay another $15.00 and it is done. By the way I had to pay the officer $25.00 to take me. The reason I am doing this is they are raising the price sky high in the near future to keep people from doing this and I know that there goal is to put a stop to this all together. So I am glad to have done it. I am a ruger fan , mainly for the money reason, I think they are hard to beat for the money. I bought a p44 in a .40 caliber, it is a special edition model, have blued and half brushed aluminum. I plan on stepping up for my real carry all in the near future. Everyone should take a look at there states carrying laws and see if you should be doing the same. Good luck.

here in north carolina i believe we have to have a mental and physical health evaluation. also take a 80 dollar course and then a test in safe gun handling. and of course a background check.

congrats on you getting a permit. something i need to do. plus i could by my weapons across the counter without a waiting period.

I just sent my personal protection permit in last week.The lifetime was $75 to the state,$50 to the city $30 refundable.I heard they was going to stop issueing them .

Man!! all you have to do here in Alabama is go to the Sheriff's office fill out a form that takes 5 mins. They run a background check and call you in three days to let you know. $20 a year. No test no nothing!!

No mental health evals. The S/O does check with mental Facilities to see if the applicant has ever been committed.

Glad to hear you boys are packing. I wish everybody that was able would. It would sure cut down on crimes against persons. One time getting a pistol screwed in their ear and the carjackings and such would stop. Enjoy the 2nd amendment, it's about all we have left.

That's what it sounds like. I think it should be a federal law for a qualified civilian to carry all over the United States. The 2nd amendment is for America...and should not be governed by individual states! State government has too much power in my opinion.

It makes you wonder. Some of the gun control legislation that has been proposed here is just plain ridiculous.

The problem with Il is the same problem I had in Ny. One large city screws up the rest of the state. New York state is screwed by NYC, like IL is screwed by chicago.

I'm sure most of Blago's support came from Chicago. Lord knows gun control works, look at cook county and washington D.C.. Handguns have been banned there for years and we all know there is no crime there, right????
