My intention in the calculator was to help folks who don't have access to a chrono get an idea of what their speed might be. If I have access to a chrono then I don't need the calculator.
The testing I've done shows that the calc is usually within about 2-3 fps of the actual chrono'd speed.
And, honestly, I only use the calculator for 2 things.
1. To get a rough idea of what kinetic energy (KE) my setup is producing.
2. To show others the correlation between arrow weight, speed and KE. Run some different scenarios and one will find that there isn't much of a change in KE when the arrow weight is changed.
Hopefully it also creates some comfort for a shooter who feels compelled to shoot at a higher draw weight than what they're really comfortable with. i.e. If I can shoot better at 65#'s then why shoot at 70 since I'm not really gaining much in KE or speed.
I guess really the calculator is more for education than anything.
