arrows

i was at the shop with gandee when we got to shoot the high country arrow. The arrow wieghed in at 303 gr. and that was with a 100 gr tip, it was cut about 29 inches. It was shot with a cardiac set at 60lbs and a 29 inch draw through the chrono at 296 fps and then i had my cardiac set on 70lbs with a 28 1/2 inch draw and it shot them out at 310fps. I would like to try them but the jury is still out.

I bought 1/2 dozen off e-bay and found out they hold up pretty well. I shot them into the ground at 15 yards and they did not self destruct. I do not own a chrono but it appears that these arrows were the fastest out of my 337. They weighed 185 grains w/o a broadhead (285 w/ 100 gr head)and i shoot 55lbs @ 28.5 DL. Only problem I had with them -was the nocks were not that great. If i drew back, then let down and drew back again the arrow popped off my string. I felt this would be inappropriate in a hunting situation so i decided not to use the arrow at this time. I am using blackhawk vapor jets 3000 series-weight 225 grains w/o broadhead- 280 grains with 55 grain b/h). These arrows appear to be a little slower and hold up quite well when shot multiple times.

I have not used them so take this for what it's worth.

One of the bow companies I do business with does not recommend them. They are too light and hard on the bow.

My personal feelings?
They are too light for hunting.
For the best results I feel you need a combination of speed and weight for good penetration.
I would also think that this light of an arrow would have to make the shot louder?
Until we reach speeds of OVER 1100 FPS, the animal will still hear noise before the arrow hits it's mark.

I have some "hot rod" Maxima 250s (341 gr) made up and they are significantly louder thru every bow I have shot them out of than my Maxima Hunter 350's (410 gr) that I will be taking to the woods. I have even used the 350s for 3D just because I want a nice, quiet shot.
I did the KE formula on both arrows and while the light 250s are only 1 lb less than the 350s I feel the 350s will do a MUCH better job of passing thru deer.

I know, I know, bragging about how fast your bow is, is fun. But, having a full freezer is better

YMMV

they have there own type of nock we put a bohning nock in the one we shot it worked fine,i'd say this will be the arrow i hunt with light or not it shoots awesome, we shot it at 40 yrds with a 100gr slick trick there was no drop or no arch in the shot, flat as could be, :(

No matter how fast, there is still an arch. Not as much with a fast arrow than a slow one but it is still there.
To say otherwise is just fooling yourself.
A fast arrow will forgive slight miscalculations in the range of the animal/target.
That is the only benefit I can really see.
I would also think they would lose their "energy" faster than a heavier arrow, momentum and all that.

My .223 shoots at about 4000 FPS and it arches too
Everything does, it's called gravity.

Like I stated in my first post, this is my opinion, YMMV

Good luck to all this fall, whatever arrow you shoot!

arrows

i stand by my origional statement, i personally know a High Country bow dealer who is no longer going to shoot those arrows!

If you are good enough to hit target every single shot ever, then heck yea go for it, but if you miss once, and it contacts anything but grass, its finished!

arrows

the nocks on these arrows are supposed to be glued in , no exceptions. after shooting these I really would like to buy them. I am not a speed nut, but when they would easily hit 315 or more it is tempting.

Seems a little light to me. I have heard about these arrows for a while, and never really gave them a run because of the weight issue. Most bow companies don't recommend shooting an arrow less then 350 grains of total weight. It puts the bow in a dryfire situation. The arrow will scream, but you would be slowely killing your bow :-x
