last year my buddy mike and i were scouting deer before the season started and we found alot of tracks...well this one set of tracks were really big and toward the end of the season we finaly seen a buck that was about 120 yards away and i about fell over....this thing was huge and the rack was even bigger.a few days later we decided to go farther out into the swampy area because we figured thas where he would be and sure enough, about 35 yards away he lifted his head up out of some thick red brush...he wouldnt come out to where i could get a shot...the only shot i had was a head shot and i wasnt going to risk it...I COUNTED 12 POINTS (on one side and the other side looked the same)and it looked like he may have had some smaller points also but like i said he was 35 yards away so i couldnt get an exact count...this year we are going into the area a little deeper and we are taking video equipment with us to try and get this monster on tape.i cant wait.i have never seen a rack this big in the wild.

this may be my last seaon for a few years......

With me and the family going to Okinawa in JAN, we will be over there for 3 and a half years till I retire from the Army.
I doubt we will make it back to this side of the world while we are there so this may be my last deer season till then.
Unfortunately we have to pack our house stuff up at the beginning of NOV to ship to Okinawa, so I have to pack and ship my bows, I may have to buy another one just to keep here till we actually fly in JAN.
One good thing, Kadena AFB in Okinawa has a really nice 3D Archery club, I will be bringing my 337 Comp. just for that reason.....
I got the elk itch and it won't go away for two and a half months. The scouting and videos just seem to make it worse.September is on the way I just wish it would hurry up!!
October 1 for me. Cant wait.
Sept. 2nd here in North Dakota is archery opener. On Sept 15th we are headed out to Western ND to chase antelope and mule deer. I can not wait!!!
Its coming quick here

Im heading up to caribou hunt for 10 days 4-15 Aug. Then in sept for 7 Days I'll be off in moose camp. 1-8 October Im going back out for a 7 Day caribou hunt when the season opens for 2. Then I am possibly going to fly out in November for a Blacktail Deer hunt on Kodiak Island, but Im still working on that one. Last year I shot my first caribou of the year July 30. I only bow hunt, so even though I spend a lot of time in the woods, I only harvest 1 or 2 nice animals a year. The hunts are all awesome though. Right now Im tinkering with bows in the evening and salmon, trout or pike fishing every morning. Gotta fill the freezer. The wifey likes lotsa fish and venison! Life is good!
September 15th can't come soon enough. I want to try my 334 out on a deer.

Whoo hoo I can't wait. Put' em in the dirt fellas :D
Sept. 2 here in Kentucky. Put my stands out yesterday, freshened up my deer can lick and did some trimming. Kicked up a nice 8 pointer and his little brother. Have seen him in the same spot for 2 years and I think it is time to introduce him to my CR 334.

YEP, I am stoked too, gonna actually be here for a whole season!!!!!
Uncle Sam decided to leave me and the family alone and we are not going back to another overseas assignment (I guess they figured 5 overseas tours in 16 yrs was enough).
My first whole (only got 1 wk last year) deer season in 5 years.
Sept. 1 here. This will be my first ever deer hunt. I am so pumped its not even funny. I will post pics of my first kill if I am so lucky.

Where are you gonna hunt Jeff?
I have not hunted WA since I was 14 or 15 (mid 80s) in Goldendale and around the Passes.
We have property in Deer Park we can hunt Deer on and we are going to scout out around Mica Peak for Elk.

Yea, I was actually looking forward to Oki, but I just got back from a 2 week vacation in WA state and really am REALLY glad I am not going back overseas again....
It was great to see my family that I have not seen in 6 years.
Oct. 1st can't come around soon enough for me.
I got one deer with a bow in 06 and had some other good hunts that didn't work out but I learned a bunch so hopefully I'm in better shape this year.
