so i made the pine cover scent late summer................so yesterday i gathered some acorns...about 20.
I got a sandwich (zip loc) bag out and poked about a dozen little pin size holes in the bag. I then put in the acorns, zipped it shut....and then got the hammer out and pounded the acorns until they were smashed, don't sledge hammer them, just enough to have the inner acorn smashed and protruding out of the shell.
Stuff the zip loc bag in a juicy juice container or whatever container....maybe a gatorade bottle (bigger bottle)
Add Luke warm water and shake for 10 seconds and let it sit like your making ice tea.
The water will get darker and darker over the next couple of hours.
Shake every hour or two.
*add 2 tsp. of baking soda (help keep mold from starting) a tip from a guy on AT....
I'm going to let it sit for 2 days and then i think it will be ready!
I smelled it last night after i came in from hunting...it smells like those acorn wafer scent.
It cost me one container, zip loc bag and tap water and a touch of baking soda.............which means zero$$$
