Vapor trail from the bullet. Sorta like the contrail from a jet. Its really cool to watch a bullet fired long range from behind the scope.:grin:

What round are you guys useing?? A buddy of mine has a 338/378 he use's for long range. GrEAT SHOOTING TOO!!!!

My longest shot on a deer was 427 yards with a 30-06. Most of my ultra long range shooting has been job related. In those cases I mostly used the .308 Win (7.62X51), and the 300 Win. Mag.. :?

320 yards with a 257 weatherby magnum. ain't got to many places to shoot over 400 yards.

so we got into using single shot pistols and i have killed 10 deer
between 225 and 280 yards with a BF hunter silhouette pistol in 7mm Benchrest Magnum.
EABCO.com makes them. nice little rig. and some of those were killed with T/C contender pistol in 7mm Bellm.
all of this shooting was done with sandbags or someother rest to steady up on.
here is a picture of a rest i built to shoot longrange. i have never shot at anything but targets with it.
but i did use the wide forend to hunt off sandbags with. works pretty good out of a built treestand.

yes sir but i have seen some awesome .308 diam. 1000 yard guns. I ain't the horses to kill effeciently over 400 yards on deer sized game.

7bru I've spent a lot of time behind a M40A-1 and its one outstanding rifle but some of the finest rifles I've ever used were built by my friend Col. Norm Chandler's company Iron Brigade Armory. Those rifles are truly amazing!! :?

I am getting ready to build a 6.5 BRM outta my Encore.
Those long range shots are always neat.
Got the chance to shoot a 50 cal. sniper rifle a few times myself. :!:
Talk about devastation at 600 yards.
