I am considering buying the Summit open shot and was wondering if any of you guys have used it? I use the Summit Cobra right now but after lugging it around in Ohio last year i vowed to get something more compact and lighter.

I have a razor ss. i have hunted one time out of a cobra. whats the difference between the cobra and a openshot. i thought they are the same stand. cobra never had stirrups.

RAZOR SS sure is awful comfy for those ohio allday rut hunts.

I think the cobra is made of steel. openshot is aluminum.

I killed a deer one time out of a treelounge with my bow without the archery adapter.
I was young and desperate.

Summit are really tops in my book, they were always sold out when I wanted one a few years back, I ended up with an API Grand Slam which mimics a Summit. :(

My buddy has a lone wolf stand and it's light weight folds flat for carrying and is very well made. :( :( :(

I have a goliath and love it. The wrap around bar doesn't get in the way if you adjust your seat all the way up. The only problem I have with the stand is that it is too comfortable. It's pretty easy to doze off in!!!!!!

Ditto. I got one for my son and he falls asleep EVERY darn time.... Sad part is he still sees more deer than me :-(
Same here. :(
It is the BEST stand I have ever owned. :(

Ten,
I have been using a Summit Viper XL for 7 years now. It has the air bladder seat and backrest and it is as good as it was when it was new. When Summit came out with the stirrups, I added them and made it the best climber I have ever used. I replaced the cables two years ago just because it seemed like the right thing to do, although it wasn't necessary.

If I were to replace it, I'd get the Summit Goliath just for the extra elbow room during heavy-clothed winter hunts. Adjusting the seat to its highest level makes it a great bow stand; lowering it gives the user a good rifle rest. I am sure that there are other fine climbers out there, but I wouldn't need to look any farther than Summit.

I have three Lone Wolf stands, two hang on and one climber. They are higher priced than some other stands but well worth the money. Light, quiet, very sturdy, and the new seats are very comfortable. I figure it this way, I spend $1,200 on a bow, $600 on clothes and boots, $500 on a range finder and binos, who knows how much on scents, cover scents, trail cameras, feeder, food plot, and a long list of things I have not mentioned. Is an extra $40-$50 bucks the breaking point that keeps me from buying a good stand that is comfortable enought to hunt all day when the rut is in full swing? I'm not saying more money means a better stand but I have tried alot of stands and IMO Lone Wolf has done it right. If there is another stand that works better for you then buy it, but don't count out quality equipment because of a few extra $$$$
