Pin gap ?

1176 Views 13 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  bowdiddly
I have in the past set my pins at 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 yards. Because of the age factor I set them @ 20,30,40,50, To allow me to see them better without them being bunched up. I have to gap shoot now. Any body got any ideas

I have always used 20,30,40,50................
My gaps between pins usually are not that big, so it suits me fine. :(
I've alway run my pins at 20, 30 ,40. If you have a 25 yard shot at a deer you just bracket the critter between your pins.
i use a HHA 1 pin, less confusing for me :D i have shot deer out to 35 yards with it set on 20 yards i just know how much drop there is by practice before season it seems to work for me well for anything over that i recommend setting for that yardage good luck DR
I have always done 20,30,40,50 i never gap the deer. when a deer is at an odd distion i use the lowest yardage.
good luck
I have mine at 20,30,40,50,and 60. I don't gap shoot either. Just hold a little high on in between shots.
Mine are 20, 30 , 40 , 50 BUT you coud try 25, and 40 and see what your hold over and under is and go that route with pratice it might not be too hard with good speed.
The more you shoot your bow, the more you will be able to adjust for the pin gap since everything is depending on speed, distance, and angle. Good Luck :(

That's what I do, only I'd use my 30 yd. pin for the 25 yd. shot. It seems to work pretty well for me.
I got old eyes too (not really saying that you do)...I shoot pins alot and shooting a gap is really very accurate. You'll get used to it and go ahead and add that 5th pin for 60yds, it'll be good practice and just in case you need a follow up shot, not a first shot. With the speeds that bows shoot today, I don't know of anyone who still uses 5yd increments. I'm curious what speed does your bow shoot? Your bow is still just as accurate as it always was and you will get used to the new gaps. Good Luck :(
if you think about it, unless the deer or elk are @ exactly 20, 30, 40 etc your gap shooting.

every hunter basically gap shoots, and only practice makes it easier.

Very true. :(
I have always set pins at 20,30,40,50,60 and shot the gaps.
I think after you have done it for a while, it gets pretty easy.
Good tips
