I buy a Summit Viper? For the past 20 years i have always hunted with a open front stand and right now i am using a Summit Cobra. But lately the Viper is sounding better and better because of the ablilty to sit and climb plus all the comfort i hear about. The only fear i have is the wrap around bar costing me a shot due to the fact of the bar not allowing me to shoot while sitting down. I know most guys just stand up and shoot but if given the choice i like to shoot while seated.I thought about the Razor but i like to keep things simple with as few moving parts as i can. So what do you guys and gals think should i go for the Viper ?

Nice stand but I don't care for having a bar in front of me while bow hunting.
I have a Gorrilla stand that way and yes, you have to stand to shoot.
I like my Old Man climber that has the front bar that has either a rifle rest or foot rest position.

I can't say enough good things about my Viper! In my 34 years of deer huunting I've had a lot of climbers, but the Viper is just increadable. Easy to climb, I feel safe when in it, and I can stay in it all day. Also Summit makes a version called the Broadhead without the front bar, you might check that one out. But, in the end, its only a choice you can make. :?

Summit makes some rock solid stands and I can't say enough about my Viper. To me, stands are no diff than bows....you need to find a dealer that will let you try several to see what you will be comfortable sitting/standing in all day when you hunt. Good luck with your choice :(

I have the Summit Goliath and absolutely love it. The Goliath is the fat man version of the Viper. As for the bar in the front, you can raise your seat so that your bow can be shot from a sitting position with no problem, or lower it for a rest when gun hunting. Light weight and extremely easy to setup. Rock solid with nothing to rattle or squeak.

I love my Viper X4. I haven't had any problems shooting sitting down if I've got the stand positioned for where I believe the shot to be taken. That can all go out the window in an instant though but it sure is comfy!! :(

The bar in front cost my son a nice buck in Ohio. Summit also make a sit and climb stand that the bar folds out of the way. My friend has one and really likes it. I think it is called the Razor.
