so i made the pine cover scent late summer................so yesterday i gathered some acorns...about 20.
I got a sandwich (zip loc) bag out and poked about a dozen little pin size holes in the bag. I then put in the acorns, zipped it shut....and then got the hammer out and pounded the acorns until they were smashed, don't sledge hammer them, just enough to have the inner acorn smashed and protruding out of the shell.
Stuff the zip loc bag in a juicy juice container or whatever container....maybe a gatorade bottle (bigger bottle)
Add Luke warm water and shake for 10 seconds and let it sit like your making ice tea.
The water will get darker and darker over the next couple of hours.
Shake every hour or two.
*add 2 tsp. of baking soda (help keep mold from starting) a tip from a guy on AT....
I'm going to let it sit for 2 days and then i think it will be ready!

I smelled it last night after i came in from hunting...it smells like those acorn wafer scent.
It cost me one container, zip loc bag and tap water and a touch of baking soda.............which means zero$$$

update.....i let it brew in the garage til last night. I poured it into another container and then refilled the brewing container as i suspected it would make another batch. Sure as heck this morning it was very dark. I gave it another shake for the day. If that batch is as good as the first it will be about 3/4 of a gallon of acorn scent cover for basically no $$coin out of my pocket.
The first batch is great. Very good aroma of Acorn, should work great!
The key is to put the acorns in the zip lock bag and poke a dozen holes in the bag and crush the acorns with a hammer, then put into the container and add tap water. After 2 days of brewing...add 2 tsp of baking powder...shake it up and serve.

At this point....there is no point to buy anything off the shelf again.
